Day 2 and no fast food... this is going to be a breeze... NOT!!!

Who knew cooking was such a big deal???

I went to the library and browsed, searched and stressed over the cookbook aisle. I never knew there were so many.

Oh sure, I've been to a bookstore where there are racks and racks of culinary authors but when you're just walking through that section on the way to "How to Brainlessly Pack a Kayak for a Weekend On the River" you never really notice the now ridiculous amount of titles assuring you that anyone can make this stuff.

I now know why fast food places stick with just a few items and cook them over and over again. It's not because they want to get really really good at those items... It's because it's too overwhelming, there are just too many food ideas which means you need some of everything to make sure you can make what you want when you get the culinary urge to go in that direction..

SO as much as I hate 4 letters words... I've decided it's time for one...

I'm going to have to PLAN -- I hate planning, I'm more of a hey how about this for dinner kinda girl. But that won't keep me out of the fast food places. So it's recipes, menus and grocery shopping.

I checked out a few cookbooks based solely on the tons of pretty food pictures. Turns out when you go in search of recipes, it's kinda like the grocery store NEVER GO WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY!!!

When I got home I wanted to jump right in scanning my borrowed books for just the right recipes to fill the bottomless pits of my dear patient husband and our two grown sons. After all we are on day two of no fast food and the black-eyed peas I fixed yesterday, which are now leftovers today, will disappear at dinner tonight.  I need some food ideas and instructions on how to make it look as good as the pictures look.

So I grabbed my stack of books, found a comfy chair to begin my recipe search, open the cookbook, put down the cookbook, got back up to find something to make a list with, sat back down really determined to begin my search, decided I was thirsty, headed to the kitchen for a glass of great southern tea. I make a pretty good glass of tea.

While fixing my tea (with lots and lots of ice) I came up with a really good idea, sometimes they just come out of no where... I wonder if the family would be good with a liquid diet tomorrow... After all they say tea is good for your brain (I don't know who "they" is but right  now I'm agreeing with them)

For now I'm going up river to see if I can borrow some tea bags just in case the family says yes to my tea idea,
Tammie
