I think this will be my last post... It's not nearly as fun writing them as it is reading them... I want to spend more time doing something else... Like quilting or sewing!!!
No longer going up river... I'm floating down instead,

Best Biscuits in the World
Words can hardly describe these biscuits!!!
Butter soft on the inside, pastry delicate on the outside...
For years I've been jealous of the soft fluffy biscuits made by Popeye's Fried Chicken. If you've ever eaten these wondrous melt in your mouth creations you know they're what other biscuits only dream about.
But since I have sworn off fast food for a year I resigned myself to my dull dry Bisquick cheater biscuits... And then no less than a miracle happened.. I found an easy (I'm all about easy) recipe in one of the cookbooks I brought home yesterday.
America's Test Kitchen (I guess I've been living in a cave since I didn't even know who or what these food guru's do). Anyway the first and by the way the easiest (did I mention I like easy) Cream Biscuit recipe was my first try and the rest is history.
America's Test Kitchen Cream Biscuits - 1
Bisquick Cheater Biscuits - 0
I no longer have to get a job with Popeye's just to find out their fluffy biscuit secret.
For now I'm going up river to buy more cream to make the Best Biscuits in the World,
Tammie

Day 2 and no fast food... this is going to be a breeze... NOT!!!
Who knew cooking was such a big deal???
I went to the library and browsed, searched and stressed over the cookbook aisle. I never knew there were so many.
Oh sure, I've been to a bookstore where there are racks and racks of culinary authors but when you're just walking through that section on the way to "How to Brainlessly Pack a Kayak for a Weekend On the River" you never really notice the now ridiculous amount of titles assuring you that anyone can make this stuff.
I now know why fast food places stick with just a few items and cook them over and over again. It's not because they want to get really really good at those items... It's because it's too overwhelming, there are just too many food ideas which means you need some of everything to make sure you can make what you want when you get the culinary urge to go in that direction..
SO as much as I hate 4 letters words... I've decided it's time for one...
I'm going to have to PLAN -- I hate planning, I'm more of a hey how about this for dinner kinda girl. But that won't keep me out of the fast food places. So it's recipes, menus and grocery shopping.
I checked out a few cookbooks based solely on the tons of pretty food pictures. Turns out when you go in search of recipes, it's kinda like the grocery store NEVER GO WHEN YOU'RE HUNGRY!!!
When I got home I wanted to jump right in scanning my borrowed books for just the right recipes to fill the bottomless pits of my dear patient husband and our two grown sons. After all we are on day two of no fast food and the black-eyed peas I fixed yesterday, which are now leftovers today, will disappear at dinner tonight. I need some food ideas and instructions on how to make it look as good as the pictures look.
So I grabbed my stack of books, found a comfy chair to begin my recipe search, open the cookbook, put down the cookbook, got back up to find something to make a list with, sat back down really determined to begin my search, decided I was thirsty, headed to the kitchen for a glass of great southern tea. I make a pretty good glass of tea.
While fixing my tea (with lots and lots of ice) I came up with a really good idea, sometimes they just come out of no where... I wonder if the family would be good with a liquid diet tomorrow... After all they say tea is good for your brain (I don't know who "they" is but right now I'm agreeing with them)
For now I'm going up river to see if I can borrow some tea bags just in case the family says yes to my tea idea,

You know it... RESOLUTION TIME
It's day one of a brand new year and it's time for a resolution. No really, I mean if it weren't for New Year Resolutions the fitness business would just dry up and blow away. Don't worry no one has to worry about me jumping on the weight loss fitness just want to be healthy band wagon. I'm going for something bigger, something life changing, something impossible. My News Years Resolution is, are you ready, NO FAST FOOD ESTABLISHMENTS FOR ONE YEAR. That's right no greasy over salted fries, no hamburger when I ordered chicken and no one handing me a bag of food out a window as I drive by. Wow I'm going to miss all that.
But I'm determined to make it happen. I know it won't be easy. I'm not really that good a cook. I have a very and I mean VERY limited list of dishes that I cook well or even at all. So along with no fast food to fill in the gap I also have to learn to cook more than my VERY limited list. I hope you'll visit from time to time and see how I'm doing. It's going to be a very interesting year...
For now I'm going up river to find a much needed recipe book,
